It will involve a stimulating mix of classroom work, and indoor and outdoor photographic sessions. Just bring your fully charged camera and an empty memory card.

Digital Photography - Intermediate Course

If you are a slightly more experienced photographer and know your way around your camera, then this is the course for you.  Are you happy taking photographs of family events and holidays, but would like to move on to explore your creativity and your camera’s many features?  This course gives you a great opportunity to learn how to get more from your camera, using a mix of classroom based work and outdoor practical activities.  As with the Introductory course, this day will include practical sessions with our birds of prey, whereby you can try out what you have learned with help and advice as you go.  It assumes you have a good idea about the topics featured in the Introductory course, including a basic understanding of how to correctly expose a picture. Make sure you bring your fully charged camera and empty memory cards!

Price: £135.00 per person. Lunch and refreshments are included in the price.

These days will take place on specific dates throughout the year, and are limited to a maximum of eight people per Photographic Experience/Course Day. Participants must be aged 16 years or over. This experience can be purchased as a gift voucher that is valid for 12 months.

Photographic Workshop with Oliver Smart

This workshop has been designed for wildlife enthusiasts who wish to improve their photography, and to learn more about the techniques involved, by experimenting with trained birds with top wildlife photographer Oliver Smart.  Oliver regularly travels the world on photography expeditions or leading photographic workshops. His work is regularly featured in many wildlife journals including: ‘British Birds’, ‘Bird Watching’ and ‘Bird Watch’, and he writes for a number of publications.

This understanding can then be put into practice with wild birds or other wildlife subjects. In addition, two members of the Hawk Conservancy Trust team will handle the birds, and will explain to guests about the species featured in the workshop, their habitats and lifestyle in the wild.

A good knowledge of photography would be beneficial but Oliver is on hand to assist with the key factors in getting great shots, and can give expert instruction on composition, camera controls or lighting. He will also create natural sets with a variety of props that will help to gain the best results on the day.

Price: £150.00 per person. Lunch and refreshments are included in the price (Course limited to 12 people).
