This three hour session is designed to give guests the opportunity to get close to and learn more about Birds of Prey, and enjoy being in their company.

You will be met at the entrance to the Trust by your hosts for the day for the start of your session.  After a brief introduction to your fellow guests and a run through of the course itinerary, your experience session will begin.

Your day will include handling and flying a range of Bird of Prey species that are to be found here at the Trust.  These may include: kites, owls, hawks and vultures. There may also be the opportunity to work with young birds in training.

The session ends with an opportunity to demonstrate the handling and flying skills you have learnt during the day, by flying a Harris’ Hawk in your own private arena.

This is not an intensive course to teach guests how to practise falconry or keep birds of prey. This experience is a taster session, set at the pace of the guests on the day, to learn and handle birds of prey and have an intimate insight into the work of the Hawk Conservancy Trust.

Morning sessions

If you are attending a morning session you will be met at 10.00am by your host for the day. After your session finishes, you are welcome to remain at the Trust, enjoy some lunch (not included) and enjoy the rest of the day’s activities.

Afternoon sessions

For the afternoon session you will be met at 1.45pm and taken to watch the Valley of Eagles before commencing your course (there are no afternoon session during November – February winter season). This session will finish at 5.30pm. You may arrive earlier and spend time around the grounds and perhaps enjoy lunch beforehand (not included).  Please ensure that you are at the given meeting point at 1.45pm.
