HAWK CONSERVANCY 100 CLUB

THE HAWK CONSERVANCY 100 CLUB
WHAT IS IT?

One of the many perks of being a Member of the Hawk Conservancy Trust is that you become eligible to join the 100 Club. This is a group of Members who want to do that little bit more to support the work of the Hawk Conservancy Trust but perhaps do not have time to volunteer or live at a distance from the Park. It is relatively painless as well!

100 Club members pay just £5 per month for a share in a monthly draw, with an extra draw in November as a Christmas Special.  Payment can be made by cheque or Bankers Order, either monthly, quarterly half-yearly or annually, and members can hold as many shares as they wish.  Each month the winners receive:-
1st Prize £100
2nd Prize £50
3rd Prize £25

In 2009 the 100 Club donated its surplus funds to the following projects, which support the work of the Hawk Conservancy Trust in each of its core aims:  Conservation, Education, Rehabilitation and Research

  1. Research on Red Kites in the local area.
  2. GPS tracking of vultures in South Africa.
  3. Supporting training days for rangers in the Kruger National Park.
  4. Payment for running costs of Hilary’s Bird of Prey Hospital for the month of August.
  5. Payment of the travel costs for Falconer Paul Betchley’s trip to South Africa in October.

Now in 2010 we are planning to support the following projects and, in fact, have already paid over £2,000 towards the building costs of the Fund-A-Bird Headquarters.

  1. Contribution towards the building costs of the Fund-A-Bird HQ of £3,000.
  2. Ongoing funding for the research on Red Kites in the local area which began last year.  £600.
  3. Travel costs for a member of the Hawk Conservancy Trust staff to travel to South Africa in the Autumn to work on the African Vulture project. To be calculated nearer the date.
  4. Contribution to the running of Hilary’s Bird of Prey Hospital again, this time for a month during the winter.  Approx. £4,200.

If you are a Member of the Hawk Conservancy Trust and are inspired to help us help the birds, we would love to hear from you.   Please contact us, Thelma and John Cobbold, through the Hawk Conservancy Trust Office, send an email to hundredclub@hawkconservancy.org or ask in the Shop when you next visit the Park.

From the figures below you will see how much we have paid out in prizes and donations since the 100 Club began in 1994.
