Paul Ure, a visitor from Salisbury, prepared a surprise for girlfriend Rachel Perry, who was attending an Activity Day at the Trust.
Paul had arranged with Trust staff for Avon the Barn Owl to fly to Rachel with a proposal attached to his talons. A surprised Rachel immediately said yes, and on bended knee Paul placed her mother's engagement ring on her finger. Trust staff were on hand with chilled champagne, and all the Activity Day guests joined in the celebrations. The story later featured in the local newspaper and radio station.
