Whilst most visitors were enthralled by watching the Blue Tit family on the TV camera link in the Trust shop, another family were raising their brood in the middle of our wooden carved bird display. Obviously the parents were trying to educate the chicks as to how to identify Birds of Prey.

Another successful mother was Paris our Black Kite. She has been flying as part of the display team for 21 years and, this spring, was paired with a young male. Her first clutch proved infertile, but a chick has been produced from her second clutch. As we also flew Paris' mother, this chick will be the third generation in display.

Trust eagle trying the game of cornhole Meet the Donkeys on members' night
Good weather for the first members' night of the year meant that over 200 people attended. Everyone had the chance to try the American game of cornhole, and to guess the weight at which goose, guinea fowl and ostrich eggs would break in our egg crushing machine. Display birds, young and old, were flown at the displays and Dave Waters gave a presentation about the breeding success of the Great Bustard on Salisbury Plain. The main speaker was our friend, Graham Bessant from Gauntlet, who thrilled the audience with displays by a Raven and a Chilean Eagle Buzzard.
