What to see: Woodland Owls and Hawks - 3:30pm

Eagle Owl in flight
Brahminy Kite flying over water

The Woodland Owls and Hawks flying demonstration takes place in the Woodland Arena – which represents a woodland or low-density forest,  a habitat that features shaded areas of limited sunlight, where birds of prey who favour this environment can hunt.

This demonstration introduces you to several birds of prey which may include species such as: Great Grey Owl, Brahminy Kite, Tawny Owl, Little Owl, Turkey Vulture, or Malaysian Wood Owl, for example. You will also get the chance to meet some of our falconers.

The commentary is provided by one of our bird staff who will explain the characteristics of each bird and facilitate this entertaining show.

After the Woodland Owls and Hawks flying demonstration there is a chance to hold a British bird of prey.

Did you know?

Barn Owls have been associated with omens, witchcraft, and death. Throughout history they were used as symbols, in myths, and as part of superstitious potions.
