Just what Friends are for

One of the most successful aspects of The Hawk Conservancy Trust is our sponsorship scheme, with every bird of prey and most other stock sponsored.
Most sponsors renew their sponsorship annually so unless any new stock arrives there are rarely any birds available for potential new sponsors. We have waiting lists for birds and have had people putting their names forward for eggs when they hatch.
Obviously, this causes a lot of disappointment to people who wish to support both the birds and the work we do here.

Over the closed season, we have been looking at ways to increase the availability of birds. We have always prided ourselves on the fact that our sponsorship scheme is based on one sponsor per bird and this will not change in the future. However, what we have decided to introduce for the 2004 season is a "Friends" scheme. If a visitor falls in love with a particular bird they will have the opportunity to become a "friend" of that bird. The cost will be £35 per year and "friends" will receive a certificate to show their support of that bird. There will be no limit to the number of "friends" any bird can have and there will be a friends list placed outside the aviary.
Please note that only the bird's sponsor will have a plaque on the aviary and receive the mounted picture and sponsor pack.
If you are interested in becoming a friend to one of our birds, please print and complete the application form below, and post, with your payment, to Tracey Smith, The Hawk Conservancy Trust, Andover SP11 8DY. Alternatively you can fax it to the office on 01264 773772, and click here to pay through our online shop.

If you are a UK taxpayer and sign the request for Gift Aid at the base of the form, the Inland Revenue will refund to us the tax you have paid (standard rate) in relation to the amount of the donation.

Notes:

1. You must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that the charity reclaims on your donation in the tax year (currently 28p for each £1 you give)

2. If you pay tax at the higher rate you can reclaim further tax relief in your Self Assessment tax return.

3. If you are unsure whether you donations qualify for Gift Aid tax relief, as the charity, or ask your local tax office for leaflet IR65.
