The six winning photographs were then judged again by TV Presenter and Naturalist Chris Packham to choose an overall winner. This was awarded to John Harper for his photograph Peregrine in meadow (winner of the Flora and Fauna section).
As overall winner, John will receive as his first prize a pair of Swarovski 8.5x42 EL binoculars. He will also have the opportunity to attend the corporate launch of the 2008 BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Natural History Musuem in London or have a behind the scenes tour of the museum with a curator to view the vaults and off show exhibits, including items brought back by Darwin.
The winner of each section will receive two tickets to the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the British Natural History Musuem, London. Adults will additionally receive a Gift Voucher for a Photographic Day at the Trust and the winner of the Junior section will receive a Gift Voucher for a Junior Falconer's Experience or an Owl Experience.
All the winning photographs will be displayed in Duffy’s Coffee Shop for our visitors to enjoy during 2008.
All winning entries that feature a Trust bird will also be entered into the BIAZA Zoological awards for 2008.
Runners-up in each section will receive a copy of the book “BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year”.
Our thanks to the judges for carrying out a very difficult task, and our thanks and congratulations to all competitors on a consistently high standard of photography throughout the competition.
